Sportscasters Academy for Kids in America  

Jimmy Young

Jimmy Young has been an on air sportscaster in New England for over 30 years.
He started as a producer on WBZ TV4 in Boston while attending Tufts University. His first on air job was as a sports talk show host on WLYN AM/FM in 1980. He moved on to the CBS affiliate in Portland, Maine WGME TV from 1981-1992. While there he sharpened his skills as a Weeknight Sports Anchor, U Maine Coaches Show host, Play by Play and Color Analyst and award winning sports reporter.
In 1992 he returned to his home town of Newton, Massachusetts to join the original on air sports staff for New England Cable News, the nation's largest 24 hour regional newschannel. There he hosted his own 90 minute sports wrap up and talk show called "Jimmy Young's SportsWorld." He also served as part of the original broadcast team for the New England Revolution MLS team and filled in and hosted a variety of sports talk shows in the Boston market. He continues to fill in on NECN as host of Sports Late Night, anchoring and reporting.
 
Tom Caron Tom Caron serves as studio host for NESN's Boston Red Sox coverage.
His duties include hosting the network's one-hour pre-game show, "Olympia Sports presents The Boston Globe Pre-Game Show" and the network's Red Sox post-game shows, "W.B. Mason Extra Innings" and "Granite City Electric Extra Innings Extra."
The Lewiston, Maine native also serves as NESN's play-by-play announcer for Hockey East telecasts and blogs regularly on NESN.com. The multi-talented announcer joined NESN in 1995 as co-host of "Front Row," a nightly sports magazine program.
 
Alice Cook Alice has worked at WBZ TV in Boston for the past 24 years.
A former member of the 1976 Olympic figure skating team, Alice has an athelete's perspective on sports and as a mother of three is uniquely qualified to work with kids interested in sportscasting.
For ten years, Alice hosted an award winning program called "Rap Around," a show dedicated to feedback from teenagers about the issues confronting them during a most challenging time. Alice has covered every major sports championship in Boston over the past two and half decades.
 
Bob Halloran Bob Halloran began his tenure as weekend sports anchor at WCVB in January 2003.
Before joining WCVB's SportsCenter 5, Halloran was at ESPNews where he spent three years as an anchor and writer for ESPN.com. Prior to ESPN, Halloran worked at Boston's WFXT-TV Channel 25 as a weekend sports anchor for three years.
He also spent five years at WPRI-TV in Providence, R.I., as Sports Director and four years at WCVX-TV in Hyannis, Mass., first as Sports Director then moving to News Director.
 
Jimmy Myers Jimmy Myers has over 30 years of broadcast experience in TV and Radio.
He has worked as sports anchor at WBZ TV in Boston, WOR TV in New York, ESPN and WFXT TV Boston. He is one of the most provocative sports talk radio hosts of all time and can be heard every Sunday on Boston's FM Talk Station WTKK 96.9.
He has done play by play, color analysis and sideline reporting. He has worked in the city of Boston for years at the Shelburne Center and is a devoted youth basketball coach in Boston.
